Arrival & Preparation

Check-In
Arrive at the time specified in your letter. Our reception team will welcome you and confirm your details.

Eye Drops
A nurse will administer drops to dilate your pupil. This takes about 30-45 minutes to work fully.

Surgeon Chat
Your surgeon will visit you to check your eye, answer final questions, and mark the eye to be operated on.
Checklist: Before You Leave Home
- Eat/Drink: You can eat and drink as normal (unless told otherwise for general anaesthetic).
- Clothing: Wear loose, comfortable clothing that buttons down the front.
- Transport: Arrange for someone to drive you home. You cannot drive yourself.
- Makeup: Do not wear any eye makeup, face cream, or perfume.
During the Procedure
The surgery typically takes 10-20 minutes. You will be awake but your eye will be numb. You may see bright lights and feel cool water, but you should not feel pain.
