Glaucoma and Treatment Options

Treatments

  • Drops: Daily medication to lower pressure.
  • SLT Laser: Gentle laser to stimulate drainage.
  • MIGS/Surgery: Surgical procedures to create drainage.

Post-Procedure Care (SLT Laser)

  • Comfort: Mild irritation or light sensitivity for 1-2 days.
  • Drops: Continue your regular glaucoma drops unless told otherwise.
  • Activity: No restrictions; return to normal life immediately.

Post-Procedure Care (Trabeculectomy/MIGS)

  • Hygiene: Strictly avoid water in the eye for 2 weeks.
  • Protection: Wear eye shield at night for 2 weeks.
  • Activity: No bending, lifting, or straining for 4 weeks (pressure changes can affect the surgery).
  • Massage: If instructed, perform eye massage exactly as taught to maintain drainage flow.

Quick Checklist

  • Take drops as prescribed
  • Wear shield at night
  • No swimming (4 weeks)
  • No eye rubbing
