Corneal Conditions & Surgery

Procedures

  • Corneal Transplant: Replacing damaged cornea with donor tissue.
  • Pterygium Removal: Removing growth from the eye surface.

Post-Operative Care Instructions

Protection is Key

  • Eye Shield: Wear the shield at night for at least 2-4 weeks (longer for transplants).
  • Safety Glasses: Wear protective glasses during the day to prevent accidental bumps.
  • Avoid Rubbing: NEVER rub the eye; this can break delicate sutures and cause graft failure.

Medication

  • Anti-Rejection Drops: For transplants, steroid drops must be taken exactly as prescribed, often for months or years.
  • Lubrication: Use preservative-free artificial tears frequently to aid healing.
